Ms. Elena Kakoulli recently jointed the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering and Informatics at the Cyprus University of Technology as a Ph.D. student, pursuing a Ph.D. degree in computer architecture with emphasis on multi-core architectures and on-chip interconnection networks. In 2009 she completed her Master’s Degree in the area of Advanced Technologies of Information Technology at the Department of Computer Science at the University of Cyprus. She completed her undergraduate studies in the same University and Department in the field of Computer Science, while simultaneously acquiring a secondary Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Computer Engineering from the Department of Electrical engineering and Computer Engineering of the University of Cyprus, in 2007. During her postgraduate studies at the University of Cyprus her thesis work concentrated in the area of Wireless Sensor Networks, emphasizing on the topic of controlling the coverage and connectivity in mobile wireless sensor networks. For her undergraduate thesis she performed research in the area of Graphics Processing Units (GPUs), application-specific processors that render graphics, where she optimized software algorithms to execute graphics applications at higher performance rates. In recognition of her excellent work during her graduate studies and her graduate thesis she received 2 prizes from the University of Cyprus and the Marfin Laiki Bank Foundation (June 2009 - Received “Marios Tsakalakis” Prize and 1st Prize in the Postgraduate Program of Advanced Technologies of Information technology at the level of Master’s Degree). Ms. Kakoulli also helped teach a number of courses at the University of Cyprus and the Cyprus University of Technology related to introductory programming, compilers, programming principles, computer organization and computer architecture.
