Dr. Dionysis Panos has been an Assistant Professor of New Media Sociology and Political Communication at the Department of Communication and Internet Studies since 2009. He holds a BA from the Law School of the University of Thrace and a BA, MA, and Ph.D. from the Department of Media and Communication of the University of Athens. Between 2015 and 2018, he served as the Coordinator of the Master's Program "Digital Media and Journalism" at the Cyprus University of Technology. His recent research interests primarily focus on the broader field of Social Media and Misinformation, Algorithmic Memory, Digital Archives, and Digital Oral History. In the recent past, his research focused on the relationship between Media and Terrorism, specifically the role of New Communication Technologies in the overall communication strategies of terrorist organizations.
Dionysis Panos also has extensive professional experience in the field of Political Communication. As the Head of the Communication Department of one of Greece's largest and most reputable Research and Political Communication companies, he was responsible for a significant number of Political Communication research projects. Later, as an Independent Political Communication Consultant, he had the opportunity to collaborate with various personalities in the Greek central political scene from 1998 to 2008. In the period 2010-2011, he was a Member of the Board of Directors (acting Vice President) of the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO), and during 2015–2016, he was a Member of the Board of Directors of the National Centre for Security Studies (KEMEA). Currently, he holds the position of the official Cyprus National Representative of the World Association for Public Opinion Research (WAPOR) until 2025.
