      <description>Title: Production and quality control of a foundry usig SPC&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Authors: Michael, Pavlos C.&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Abstract: The objective of this project is to improve the productivity of a foundry industry by using statistical process control.In order to fulfill the goal of the project the whole production processes of a specific foundry was studied.Many shortcomings were detected and possible solutions were suggested in order to overcome such short comings. Suggestions were pointed out to improve the existing safety measures in the factory.The quality control procedure and techniques at the SKK castings and foundries were investigated. The conclusion derived was that the existing quality control methods are not efficient. For this reason proposed quality control methods are suggested. An economic comparison is performed for the existing and proposed quality control methods. A variable control chart has been constructed to investigate whether the production process was satisfactory.       <description>Title: Design of a hoisting winch&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Authors: Kalaitzis, Panayiotis&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Abstract: The objective of this project is to design a Hoisting Winchwith the following terms and conditions(1) The Winch to be able to handle a weight of 3 tonneforce.(2) The Winch to be power operated.(3) Safety must be a primary design factor.(4) ISO, CYS and BS to be used.The whole project has been devided into 10 chapters.Chapter one deals with the creativity and decision makingphases of the design.In chapter 2 a brief description of the several parts ofthe hoist, it's operation and dimensions determination ispresented.Chapter 3 deals with the selection of the rope and chapter4 deals with the relevant calculations in designing thedrum.In chapter 5 the selection of the gearmotor is presentedbased on relevant calculations.Chapter 6 deals with the design of the drum - gearmotorshaft, its mounting and bearing housings selected.Chapter 7 deals with the calculations and strength analysisof beams 1-5 in order to design the trolley. In the endthe selection of the trolley travel gearmotor is made.In chapter 8 a description is made for those parts of thehoisting winch which are not to be designed and .otherdetails are presented.Suitable instructions to the user and maintenanceprocedures are included in chapter 9.Finally the cost analysis of one unit is included inchapter eleven. These races are separated in groups of go-karts driven by profesionals.
