dc.descriptionThe object of this work is the establishment of an urban elevation network in the city of Limassol and modeling the geoid abstinence from ellipsoid. This was made possible by GPS measurements and geometric leveling measurements. The GPS gives altitudes reference to the ellipsoid while the geometric leveling benchmark is M.S.L. Having the elevation of the two surfaces, with the removal of their elevation we calculate the abstention of geoid from ellipsoid. Thus, the digital model of the geoid's abstention from ellipsoid created will greatly help both the Cyprus University of Technology in subsequent research and training students as well as public bodies which will need the altitudes and the elevation differences of these points for future projects in the center of Limassol and the wider region.en_US
dc.description.abstractΑντικείμενο αυτής της εργασίας είναι η ίδρυση ενός αστικού υψομετρικού δικτύου στη πόλη της Λεμεσού και η μοντελοποίηση της αποχής του γεωειδούς από το ελλειψοειδές. Αυτό έγινε εφικτό με μετρήσεις GPS καθώς και με μετρήσεις γεωμετρικής χωροστάθμησης. Το GPS δίνει υψόμετρα με σημείο αναφοράς το ελλειψοειδές ενώ με τη γεωμετρική χωροστάθμηση το σημείο αναφοράς είναι η Μ.Σ.Θ.. Έτσι, έχοντας το υψόμετρο από τις δύο επιφάνειες, με την αφαίρεση των υψομέτρων τους έχουμε την αποχή του γεωειδούς από το ελλειψοειδές. Έτσι, το ψηφιακό μοντέλο αποχής του γεωειδούς από το ελλειψοειδές που θα δημιουργηθεί θα βοηθήσει σε μεγάλο βαθμό τόσο το Τεχνολογικό Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου σε μετέπειτα έρευνες και εξάσκηση φοιτητών όσο και δημόσιους φορείς οι οποίοι θα χρειαστούν τα υψόμετρα αλλά και τις υψομετρικές διαφορές των σημείων αυτών για την εκτέλεση μελλοντικών έργων στο κέντρο της Λεμεσού αλλά και της ευρύτερης περιοχής.en_US
