This chapter delivers understandings of tourism employees’ wellbeing while emphasising the significant role of the notion at a personal, organisational, industrial, and societal level. The chapter proceeds by delivering current issues and future perspectives related to the notion of wellbeing within the tourism and hospitality workplace context. Practical and theoretical implications are also provided. A conceptual diagram that summarises the interrelated elements shaping the wellbeing of individuals is proposed for academic and tourism stakeholder consideration. The diagram presents the rather ignored aspect of the “freedom” sense that should be acknowledged while researching, measuring, and endeavoring to promote the wellbeing of individuals in the future. Highlights Wellbeing is an ancient concept that will continue to be of utmost importance at a personal, organizational and societal level. “Freedom” emerges as a previously neglected dimension when examining well-being. The “sense of freedom” contributes to the well-being of people/employees.en_US
