| dc.description | Phonology is defined as "the subsystem that focuses on the sounds of language, which are systematically used to convey meaning" (Bowen, 2015). Specifically, it examines the interaction of sounds in language as it deals with the study and classification of those sounds that have a differentiating value for the spoken linguistic message and are called "phonemes" (Stoel-Gammon, 2011; Peteinou & Okalidou, 2010). In addition, phonology determines the characteristics of the sound in words, that is, it tries to discover when a phonetic contrast is distinct (when a word sounds the same but each time has a different meaning). This study investigates the phonological skill of children who are speakers of the Greek Cypriot Dialect. In particular, it will be examined through the Phonetic & Phonological Skill subtest, which is part of the DOKIGLO Test (Peteinou et al., 2021) that includes a series of assessment stimuli. The administration of the evaluation words (probe list words) and their usefulness in the study of the phonetic and phonological profile of preschool children with typical language development will be applied. The ultimate goal is to study this tool through research and primary data. In addition, we aim to create a uniform and homogeneous way of evaluation. This research included 8 children, 5 girls and 3 boys, aged 2;00-4;11 years. This study examined the phonological skill of typically developing children who are speakers of the Greek Cypriot Dialect. Participants were recruited from various private contexts through personal contacts. All the children came from a monolingual environment with the urban form of KE. So we come to the fact that children gradually begin to learn the way in which they can produce the various vowels of their language, expanding their vocal repertoire and correctly approximating the vocal characteristics of their dialect. The order of phthong acquisition is not exact or the same for all children, but by studying various researches one can establish the general trends that prevail on average in each language. These results are of great clinical importance as they may contribute to the creation of a uniform and homogeneous way of evaluation. | en_US |
| dc.description.abstract | Η φωνολογία ορίζεται ως « το υποσύστημα που εστιάζεται στους φθόγγους της γλώσσας, οι οποίοι χρησιμοποιούνται συστηματικά για την εκφορά σημασίας»(Bowen,2015). Συγκεκριμένα, εξετάζει την αλληλεπίδραση ήχων στη γλώσσα καθώς ασχολείται με τη μελέτη και ταξινόμηση των ήχων εκείνων που έχουν διαφοροποιητική αξία για το εκφερόμενο γλωσσικό μήνυμα και ονομάζονται «φωνήματα» (Stoel-Gammon, 2011; Πετεινού & Οκαλίδου, 2010). Επιπλέον, η φωνολογία καθορίζει τα χαρακτηριστικά του ήχου στις λέξεις, δηλαδή προσπαθεί να ανακαλύψει πότε μια φωνητική αντίθεση είναι διακριτή(όταν μια λέξη ακούγεται το ίδιο αλλά κάθε φορά έχει διαφορετική σημασία). Η μελέτη αυτή διερευνά την φωνολογική δεξιότητα των παιδιών που είναι ομιλητές της Ελληνικής Κυπριακής Διαλέκτου. Συγκεκριμένα, θα εξεταστεί μέσω της υποδοκιμασίας Φωνητική & Φωνολογική Δεξιότητα, η οποία είναι μέρος του Δοκιμίου ΔΟΚΙΓΛΩ (Πετεινού και συνεργάτες, 2021) που εμπεριέχει σειρά ερεθισμάτων αξιολόγησης. Θα εφαρμοστεί η χορήγηση των λέξεων αξιολόγησης (λέξεων ανιχνευτή-probe list) και η χρησιμότητα αυτών στην μελέτη του φωνητικού και φωνολογικού προφίλ παιδιών προσχολικής ηλικίας με τυπική γλωσσική ανάπτυξη. Απώτερος στόχος είναι η μελέτη του εν λόγω εργαλείου μέσω έρευνας και πρωτογενών δεδομένων. Επιπλέον, στοχεύουμε στην δημιουργία ομοιόμορφου και ομοιογενή τρόπου αξιολόγησης. H έρευνα αυτή περιλάμβανε 8 παιδιά, 5 κορίτσια και 3 αγόρια, ηλικίας 2;00-4;11 ετών. H μελέτη αυτή εξέτασε την φωνολογική δεξιότητα τυπικά αναπτυσσόμενων παιδιών που είναι ομιλητές της Ελληνικής Κυπριακής Διαλέκτου. Οι συμμετέχοντες στρατολογήθηκαν από διάφορα ιδιωτικά πλαίσια μέσω προσωπικών επαφών. Όλα τα παιδιά προέρχονταν από μονόγλωσσο περιβάλλον με την αστική μορφή της ΚΕ. Για την στατιστική ανάλυση των αποτελεσμάτων χρησιμοποιήθηκε ο αλγόριθμος TOPS. Καταλήγουμε λοιπόν στο γεγονός πως τα παιδιά σταδιακά αρχίζουν να μαθαίνουν τον τρόπο με τον οποίο μπορούν να παράξουν τους διάφορους φθόγγους της γλώσσας τους, διευρύνοντας το φωνητικό τους ρεπερτόριο και προσεγγίζοντας σωστά τα φωνητικά χαρακτηριστικά της διαλέκτου τους. H σειρά κατάκτησης των φθόγγων δεν είναι ακριβής ή ίδια για όλα τα παιδιά, αλλά μελετώντας διάφορες έρευνες μπορεί κανείς να διαπιστώσει τις γενικές τάσεις που επικρατούν κατά μέσο όρο στην κάθε γλώσσα. Τα αποτελέσματα αυτά κατέχουν μεγάλη κλινική σημασία καθώς μπορεί να συμβάλουν στην δημιουργία ενός ομοιόμορφου και ομοιογενή τρόπου αξιολόγησης. | en_US |
