| dc.description | Aim: The issue of the decision-making process for organ donation to brain dead people is long-standing problem that concerns our society and the nursing industry in particular. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the decision-making process for organ donation in brain death people and what are the factors that play an important role in making these decisions. Material and Method: For the purpose of this study a research was made in valid scientific articles in Greek and English. The databases that were used are as follows: (PubMed, Google Scholar, Scopus), applying the keyword (Decision-making process and organ donation) and (Decision-making process and organ donation and a brain dead person) and (Organ Donation Process and Brain Dead Donors) and (Cases of Brain Death and Organ Donation) in all possible combinations. Results: The search resulted in 10 studies, during the period 2012-2019, that met the predefined criteria. Through the literature search, it was found that families with native deceased people play an important role in the recruitment process, so emphasis should be placed on showing respect to donor families by health professionals and protecting them from possible harm might cause to them. Conclusions: The nurse and other health professionals must respect human existence and the wishes of families with brain dead people. | dc.description.abstract | Εισαγωγή: Το θέμα της διαδικασίας λήψης αποφάσεων για δωρεά οργάνων σε εγκεφαλικά νεκρά άτομα αποτελεί ένα διαχρονικό πρόβλημα το οποίο προβληματίζει την κοινωνία μας αλλά και τον κλάδο της νοσηλευτικής πιο συγκεκριμένα. Σκοπός: Σκοπός της παρούσας εργασίας είναι η διερεύνηση της διαδικασίας λήψης αποφάσεων για την δωρεά οργάνων σε εγκεφαλικά νεκρά άτομα και ποιοί είναι οι παράγοντες οι οποίοι διαδραματίζουν σημαντικό ρόλο στην λήψη αυτών των αποφάσεων. Υλικό και Μέθοδος: Η μέθοδος που χρησιμοποιήθηκε ήταν η αναζήτηση της σχετικής ελληνικής και διεθνούς βιβλιογραφίας σε βάσεις δεδομένων (PubMed,Google Scholar, Scopus) με λέξεις κλειδιά ( Decision-making process and organ donation) και (Decision-making process and organ donation and a brain dead person) και (Organ Donation Process and Brain Dead Donors) και (Cases of Brain Death and Organ Donation) σε όλους τους πιθανούς συνδυασμούς. Αποτελέσματα: Η αναζήτηση κατέληξε σε 10 μελέτες, κατά την περίοδο 2012-2019, που πληρούσαν τα προκαθορισμένα κριτήρια. Μέσα από την αναζήτηση της βιβλιογραφίας διαπιστώθηκε πως οι οικογένειες ασθενών με εγκεφαλικά νεκρά άτομα διαδραματίζουν σημαντικό ρόλο στην διαδικασία λήψης αποφάσεων, για αυτό πρέπει να δίνεται έμφαση στην επίδειξη σεβασμού προς τις οικογένειες των δωρητών από τους επαγγελματίες υγείας και να προστατεύονται από οποιαδήποτε πιθανή βλάβη μπορεί να προκληθεί σε αυτούς. Συμπεράσματα: Ο νοσηλευτής και οι υπόλοιποι επαγγελματίες υγείας οφείλουν να σέβονται την ανθρώπινη ύπαρξη και να σέβονται τις επιθυμίες των οικογενειών με εγκεφαλικά νεκρά άτομα. Επίσης πρέπει να παρέχουν την απαραίτητη φροντίδα, κατανόηση και υποστήριξη τους προς τις οικογένειες αυτές πριν, κατά και μετά την διαδικασία λήψης της απόφασης τους είτε αυτή είναι θετική προς την δωρεά οργάνων είτε είναι αρνητική. | en_US |
