| dc.description | This paper examines the impact of climate change on the building sector. Climate change can be a major concern, for the construction industry, due to its impact on the life cycle of projects. Initially, a literature review is made on the problem of climate change, the causes that create it and its impact on various sectors. In the next section, reference is made to the impact of climate change both locally and internationally. Specifically, the changes in temperature, rainfall and desertification that are gradually occurring in Cyprus are reported, presenting data and data from the Department of Meteorology for the last years. In addition, an attempt is being made to compare it with what is happening in the European countries most or less affected by weather changes. There are also some points to the dangers that climate change is expected to have in Europe in future. At a later stage, the influence of climate change on buildings and other structures is presented. Then a description is made of the mechanisms of heat, wind and vapor transfer in building materials. In addition, information is recorded on the properties of building materials found mainly in construction, such as rocks, wood, mortars and ceramics, and finally, the mechanisms of deterioration of these building materials are described. In the last chapter, two bibliographic reviews on the impact of climate change in Cyprus are presented. These reviews focus on the impact of climate change on building structures as well as on road networks. | en_US |
| dc.description.abstract | Στην εργασία αυτή εξετάζεται η επίδραση που έχει η κλιματική αλλαγή στον κτιριακό τομέα. Η κλιματική αλλαγή μπορεί να αποτελέσει σημαντική ανησυχία, για τον κατασκευαστικό κλάδο, λόγω των επιπτώσεων που έχει στον κύκλο ζωής των έργων. Αρχικά, γίνεται μια βιβλιογραφική επισκόπηση σχετικά με το πρόβλημα της κλιματικής αλλαγής, τις αιτίες που το δημιουργούν καθώς και τις επιπτώσεις του σε διάφορους τομείς. Στην επόμενη ενότητα, γίνεται αναφορά στην επίδραση της κλιματικής αλλαγής τόσο σε τοπικό όσο και διεθνές επίπεδο. Συγκεκριμένα, αναφέρονται οι αλλαγές σε θερμοκρασία, βροχόπτωση και ερημοποίηση που συμβαίνουν σταδιακά και στην Κύπρο παρουσιάζοντας στοιχεία και δεδομένα από το τμήμα Μετεωρολογίας για τα τελευταία χρόνια. Επιπλέον, γίνεται προσπάθεια συγκριτικής μελέτης με το τι συμβαίνει στις ευρωπαϊκές χώρες που επηρεάζονται περισσότερο ή λιγότερο από τις καιρικές μεταβολές. Ακόμη, γίνονται κάποιες επισημάνσεις στους κινδύνους που αναμένεται να έχει η κλιματική αλλαγή στην Ευρώπη μελλοντικά. Σε επόμενο στάδιο, παρουσιάζεται η επιρροή της αλλαγής του κλίματος σε κτίρια και άλλες κατασκευές. Στη συνέχεια, γίνεται περιγραφή των μηχανισμών μεταφοράς θερμότητας, ανέμου και ατμών στα δομικά υλικά. Ακόμη, καταγράφονται πληροφορίες σχετικά με τις ιδιότητες των δομικών υλικών που συναντώνται κατά κύριo λόγο στις κατασκευές, όπως για παράδειγμα τα πετρώματα, το ξύλο, τα κονιάματα και τα κεραμικά. Τέλος, περιγράφονται οι μηχανισμοί φθοράς των δομικών αυτών υλικών. Στο τελευταίο κεφάλαιο, παρουσιάζονται δύο βιβλιογραφικές ανασκοπήσεις σχετικά με τις επιπτώσεις της κλιματικής αλλαγής στην Κύπρο. Αυτές οι ανασκοπήσεις επικεντρώνονται στις επιπτώσεις της κλιματικής αλλαγής σε κτιριακές κατασκευές καθώς και σε οδικά δίκτυα. | en_US |
