Γίνεται αρχικά μια σύντομη αναδρομή που σχετίζεται με το ιστορικό των χαρτών, ξεκινώντας από την παλαιολιθική εποχή, με ενδιάμεση αναφορά στους Αιγυπτίους, στους Έλληνες, στους Βυζαντινούς και στους Ευρωπαίους του Μεσαίωνα, και καταλήγει στους Βρετανούς και ιδιαίτερα στον Οράτιο Χέρμπερτ Κίτσενερ, ο οποίος δημιούργησε τον πρώτο πλήρη χάρτη της Κύπρου. Ο χάρτης αυτός αποτελεί μια επιστημονική χαρτογράφηση που άφησε εποχή, σε παγκόσμιο επίπεδο. Στη συνέχεια γίνεται προσπάθεια κατανόησης της έννοιας, αλλά και του λόγου ύπαρξης των γεωδαιτικών συστημάτων, καθώς και αναφορά στα είδη τους, ιεραρχώντας τα σε παγκόσμια και κρατικά. Επίσης, γίνεται αναφορά για τον τρόπο υλοποίησής τους, κάνοντας ανάλυση του τρόπου προβολής των σημείων της Φ.Γ.Ε αρχικά στο ελλειψοειδές, στη συνέχεια σε αναπτυκτές επιφάνειες, και, τέλος, σε επίπεδες ορθογώνιες συντεταγμένες. Η μελέτη καταλήγει με την περιγραφή του ιστορικού της δημιουργίας του κυπριακού Κτηματολογίου, καθώς η γεωδαιτική υποδομή της Κύπρου είναι ενσωματωμένη με το τεχνικό συστατικό αυτής της Υπηρεσίας. | Description: | This dissertation focuses mainly on the description of the way, the actions, and the methods used, for the establishment of the two geodetic reference systems in Cyprus (that of 1913-15, and the second one of 1993). A brief review of the history of the maps is made, beginning with the Paleolithic period with an intermediate reference to the Egyptians and Greeks, the Byzantines and the Europeans of the Middle Ages, and ending with the English. Α further reference is made to Horatio Herbert Kitchener, who first created a complete map of Cyprus, a world-class scientific mapping. Further on, an attempt is made to understand the concept, but also the reason for the existence of geodetic systems, as well as a reference to their species, ranking them from global to national. A report on the way the geodetic systems are implemented is also included, where an analysis is made of the way of projection of the points of Natural Earth Surface in the ellipsoid, then on developing surfaces, and finally in flat rectangular coordinates.
