dc.descriptionThis postgraduate study is entitled "The Reception of Television Content by Immigrants in Cyprus" and was conducted by Marianna Koumettou, under the supervision of Dr. Dimitra Milioni. The study was completed in May 2018. Nowadays, one of the most important issues that the research community deals with, is immigration and, in particular, the various parameters that are affected from or affect the subjects (locals and migrants) of a country. An important research area is the role of television in integrating immigrants into the host state and their relationship with them. This study focuses on immigrants of low socio-economic status, including refugees, residing in Cyprus. The main research question relates to how immigrants understand the content of television programs in Cyprus and examines at the same time the extent to which immigrants watch Cypriot TV. In order to answer these questions, a mixed method was adopted, namely a combination of quantitative and qualitative analysis.en_US
dc.description.abstractΗ παρούσα μελέτη έχει τίτλο «Η πρόσληψη του τηλεοπτικού περιεχομένου από τους μετανάστες στην Κύπρο» και εκπονήθηκε από τη μεταπτυχιακή φοιτήτρια Μαριάννα Κουμέττου, υπό την επίβλεψη της Δρ. Δήμητρας Μηλιώνη. Η έρευνα ολοκληρώθηκε τον Μάϊο του 2018. Ένα σημαντικό θέμα το οποίο απασχολεί τα τελευταία χρόνια την ερευνητική κοινότητα είναι η μετανάστευση και συγκεκριμένα οι διάφοροι τομείς οι οποίοι επηρεάζονται από ή επηρεάζουν τα υποκείμενα (ντόπιους και μετανάστες) μιας χώρας. Ένα σημαντικό ερευνητικό πεδίο είναι ο ρόλος της τηλεόρασης στην ένταξη των μεταναστών στη χώρα υποδοχής, καθώς και η σχέση τους με αυτήν. Η παρούσα μελέτη εστιάζει στους μετανάστες χαμηλής κοινωνικο-οικονομικής θέσης, συμπεριλαμβανομένων και των προσφύγων, οι οποίοι κατοικούν στην Κύπρο. Το κύριο ερευνητικό ερώτημα αφορά τον τρόπο με τον οποίο οι μετανάστες προσλαμβάνουν το περιεχόμενο των τηλεοπτικών προγραμμάτων στην Κύπρο και συνάμα εξετάζεται ο βαθμός κατά τον οποίο οι μετανάστες παρακολουθούν τηλεοπτικά προγράμματα από κυπριακούς σταθμούς. Για την απάντηση των πιο πάνω ερωτημάτων υιοθετήθηκε μεικτή μεθοδολογία, δηλαδή ένας συνδυασμός ποσοτικής και ποιοτικής ανάλυσης.en_US
