Olympiou, Georgios
Ολυμπίου, Γεώργιος
Dr Georgios Olympiou has conducted his studies in Chemistry at University of Cyprus, where he continued his studies for PhD, which he successfully completed in 2011. His PhD thesis was related upon the development and/or the improvement of the catalytic de-polluting technology that concerns the selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of nitrogen oxides (NOx) towards nitrogen in the presence of hydrogen under industrial simulated conditions. His PhD research was carried out at Heterogeneous Catalysis Laboratory (University of Cyprus) and funded in a large percentage from National and European Research Programs as well as from Linde Engineering AG (Germany), a leading company in de-polluting technologies. Dr. Olympiou is now working as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Cyprus University of Tecnology and in particular at the Environmental Catalysis Laboratory. His research interests lie upon: a) the design, development and/or improvement of catalytic technologies applied for gaseous or liquid de-pollution, and liquid or solid waste management, b) application of novel sensing and monitoring technologies for the prevention and/or reduction of seawater pollution with emphasis on commercial ports.
