Andreas lanitis is a Professor in the Department of Multimedia and Graphic Arts, Cyprus University of Technology. Andreas received the degree of B.Eng in Electronic Engineering (1991) and PhD in Image Processing and Computer Vision (1995), both from the University of Manchester, UK. Subsequently he carried out research in the Division of Imaging Science and Biomedical Engineering, University of Manchester. Between 1997 and 2007 he worked at the School of Sciences and Engineering, Cyprus College. His research interests are in the areas of Digital Image Processing, Computer Vision and Computer Graphics with emphasis on the development of 2D and 3D model-based algorithms suitable for coding, interpretation and restoration of image objects that undergo appearance variations. Typical applications related with his research work include: Age progression, age estimation based on biometric traits, face recognition, identity verification, face synthesis, restoration of occluded face images, non-invasive multi-modal human computer interaction, development and interfacing with virtual environments, cultural heritage related applications and contemporary virtual reality applications. Andreas is the founder and coordinator of the Visual Media Computing Research Lab
