Stelios A. Choulis is Professor in the department of Mechanical Engineering and Material Science and Engineering at the Cyprus University of Technology. Before he joined the Cyprus University of Technology, he was the device research and development (R&D) group leader of Konarka Technologies worldwide activities in the field of organic & hybrid photovoltaics, under Dr C. J. Brabec (Chief Technology officer, CTO at Konarka Technologies) and member (Device Engineer) of the Osram Opto-Semiconductors Inc, light emitting diode R&D team at Silicon valley (California, USA) which produce the first commercially available product (micro-display) based on semiconductor polymer. During his Ph.D. (University of Surrey, UK) and first post-doc research fellowship position at Advanced Technology Institute (University of Surrey, UK) funded both by the British Engineering and Physical Science Research Council (EPSRC) he investigated the optical properties of quantum nanostructure materials and devices. In 2002 he joined the group of Prof D. D. C. Bradley, FRS (Fellow of the Royal Society/co-inventor of conjugated polymer electroluminescence) and Prof J. Nelson at the center of electronic materials and devices (Imperial College London, UK) as research associate fellow funded by British Petrol (BP), and work on the opto-electronic properties of molecular semiconductor materials and devices
